Artist Bio
My name is Claire Cordiner. I am originally from
Inverness , where I spent my early life potato printing at the Ness Bank Nursery. My mother, a Gray’s
School of
Art graduate, encouraged my creative tendencies from a very young age, yet always steered me away from entering the fine art “sausage machine”. As a result I ended up studying law, sociology, politics and history at university, leaving somewhat confused about my career objectives.
Having lived in the rolling Aberdeenshire countryside from the age of ten, a large part of my work has been inspired by my surroundings and by childhood holidays abroad. In particular, I have always enjoyed walking around harbours admiring boats, people and beautiful reflections in the water. I try to interpret everything I see in as many colours as the canvas can hold.
Thus far I have learned that you must be passionate about your work and you have to love what you do. For now, I am fortunate enough to have the freedom and time to develop as an artist, something that I intend to make the most of. I hope you like what you see.
