Greetings! My name is Helen, I live in the beautiful land of Aberdeen and the word 'essay' is giving me the fear. I feel as though I should start with an introducation and finish with a conclusion. I would if it would make you feel better... but alas I'm not very good at essays. Stories I can do however. I like to think of myself as a 'pre published' author but more about that in the 'essay' below.

There's many a thing I like to do with my spare time. Mostly the usual, hanging with friends, going to the pub and nights out. Being a film buff and loving TV I also like to watch TV and films and the occational computer game although I'm crap at them all. Except singstar... singstar says I'm 'cool' and 'awesome' and you can't argue with that.

I'm filled with random information my general knowledge tends to lean towards the extensive. I also think sandwiches are a very underated food. If you think so too, well let me know. Maybe we could all form some Sandwich Appreciation Society... (forming the acronym SAS was completely accidental yet amusing.)

Nothing I enjoy more than having a few drinks and a good laugh with anyone's who's up for it.I can be serious when it's needed but much prefer to let the good times roll.

I don't care if the glass is half empty or half full, because for all I know, it might just be that the glass is the wrong damned size. I don't care what you do for a living or how much you earn, just so long as you don't expect me to support you. I may also object if you're liable to come home smelling of something unspeakable or with an extra body part or two secreted about your person.

I rarely drink alcohol, for no reason other than the fact that when I do, I tend to get three day hangovers. It also makes me dance like a muppet with a wonky string. Not pretty.

I have no clue why people say they like to laugh and have fun because it's hardly unusual - unless you normally associate with people who spend all their time in dark rooms and haven't laughed since breaking wind in 1982. I guess you'd find it alarming if that were the case.

So how about I just describe myself as a shrew faced old harridan, looking for a partner to punish for the sins of boyfriends past? In return you get great initial excitement followed by a slow, soul-crushing and excruciatingly painful decline into apathy, sniping, long bitter silences, excessive alcohol consumption and barely mediocre sex. Would that work?

I know people will frown on this, but im not too keen on religion and its theories i.e. explaining how god created us out of dust etc. I believe in evolution and scientific facts. Religion has also caused a lot of wars and violence in the world also. :(

Hmmm, when I go out I love to have a laugh (who doesnt) haha. Erm, my favourite drink is Baileys, with ice preferrably but that makes me drink it faster or it turns all watery and not too nice hehe.
My favourite soft drink would have to be sprite I think - especially on a hot day - I gave up on Irn Bru when i found out it lowers your sperm count :P haha.

Not being mean or anything, but I hate people who KNOW they are cool, or think they are above or too cool for others. Its just not on, I mean - who are they to say that. I've got no problem with popular people coz clearly its the personality that has made them popular with most people (unless its the kind where they are popular only if your good looking, that sucks ass).

describing yourself is difficult, you have to think about yourself in 3rd person. Ok, well my main attribute is my random/zany sense of humour(aka Bill Bailey) Im very observant and often make some very witty remarks about society, politics, or just people in general.(not offensive though!) I love socialising at dinner parties or eating out, or going to concerts with friends. I love making people laugh, not so much laughing myself, although I love a wee chuckle from time to time. My sense of humour is very unpredictable, which gives a sense of novelty. People like me because they can never predict what I am going to say, Bill Bailey-style.

I am very artistic and musical. My outlets for my creativity are found in my love of music of all kinds(apart from gangster rap) and my love of art. I express this also in my love ofplaying the guitar. At the moment I am learning classical guitar, although I can play all styles. Quite often you will find me painting in my spare time. Because I am creative, I love variety, whether it be in film, music, art, or even just in the people I meet, in the conversations I have with friends or in the books I read.

My personality? I have a fairly chilled out temperament, particularly in groups. I am quite content to sit and listen to people talk. I am not one to be at the forefront of conversations, although when people ask good questions I can say quite a lot. Overall, I am quite shy person, but when you get to know me I come out my shell (so to speak). Then you will see my sense of humour. I love deep conversations - about life, love, death, society, politics, culture, art etc - although I do love shallow silly conversations too from time to time, the kind that make you chuckle and you can reminisce about months later.

I'd say that I need personal space from time to time. Long periods around people can make me feel claustrophobic. Periods without company can also make me feel claustrophobic, so Id say I need in between the two. When at parties, I am more the kind of person who will speak to people individually and have deep conversations with them, rather than the type who is at the forefront of the group, telling amusing anecdotes to everyone present. Occasionally I will come up with an amusing observation or say a witty line. So, although I am very shy at parties, people do admire my witticisms which come pretty spontaneously.

Finally and most importantly, I am a Christian. Im a follower of Jesus Christ . Naturally my faith naturally impacts my ethical outook on life. Pro-life, social justice, anti war, taking care of our environment, pro-marriage, anti drugs, anti guns, etc. You may ask yourself, "who is 'pro guns' though??" Yes, unfortunately there are people who are PRO guns!

Think it's time for an update! I'm still at college, studying music and loving it. Well, ok. That's not strictly true, but I can pretend. I'm a loving, caring, honest and trustworthy person. I've also been deemed dependable and strong willed. Not sure if the latter is a good thing, but it's the truth.

I've been messed around a lot by guys in the past, so kind of sick of them saying "I won't hurt you" when, in the end, they break me again. It's sort of annoying, so please don't make promises you can't keep.

In terms of what I'm looking for, it's difficult to say. I'm random beyond belief, and can go hyper for no reason. So someone with a good sense of humour and an ability to laugh at the most mundane things would be someone I'd like to meet. Being a musician, it means that music and events run my life, so having an interest in my kind of music would be a total bonus, and yes, that means there may be some dancing involved! Trust me, it's all good fun =D

Geek. I wish for bigger faster computers, have owned every video game system since the colecovision, there are rows of fantasy novels on the... well.. wherever there's space, and I love SciFi Friday. Over the years, all available shelf space has been filled with dragon stuff, including that little space at the front of the bookshelf that the books don't quite fill. I seriously need a bigger room.

During college, my favorite classes were philosophy classes. I'm an english major, but I enjoyed philosophy so much more. They created at atmosphere where you could just stop in, sit on the couches, and participate in amazing conversations.

I wish I had the money to travel more. Some day... dancing lessons. Because I can't dance and I feel like I'm missing out. I get that a lot, I feel like I'm missing out and something must be done! I've been trying. Making an actual effort to do the things that scare me on the simple principle that they're scary because they have something to teach me.

I'm not terribly girly. I'm not sure how to quantify that exactly. It seems partly to do with an attitude, partly to do with an emotional/rational balance that leans more toward rational. I'm not prone to crazy emotional outbursts, which men seem to find baffling. Perhaps this is a good thing? Or perhaps they like baffling. I'm not sure.

I have found out recently that I really dig steampunk and wearing frilly Neo-Victorian things. It's a little bit goth, but without the obsession with death. Bustle dresses, corsets, ruffles, and leather. So maybe I just needed to find a flavor of girly that fit me?

I was accepted to MENSA. I haven't attended any of the big regional gatherings, but the local events can be fun.

Also, I make books. I had a job at a small publisher until I got laid off. I worked at a city job for 9 months before my boss became too much to take, so I left. That was right before the economy tanked. Nothing like good timing!

I'm now going to grad school in Scotland. I figured, I could use the adventure and a year of not job hunting. Plus, I get to come out of it even more qualified for the jobs I'm applying for than I already am!

But being in a new place is lonely. And I'd like to find someone I can count on for a drink or a jaunt or just watching TV.

Grew up in a small town by the sea, where I was once apprehended by the local constabulary and charged with the most heinous of crimes, malicious mischief; accidentally causing a minor conflagration of the tinder dry dunes. If it werenâ??t for my, then, distinctive blond mop my brief brush with pyromania may have gone unnoticed, and unreported. However, as shit luck would have it, I was spotted, and reported; not to the police but my parents who did the right thing and turned me in. That was my first brush with the law.

After an adventure off the rails and a few years at paid monotony I felt that the time was right to return to education. After all, mediocre standard grades and the obligatory doss course or two only you get you so far up the shit heap. Nobody is actually employed in multimedia anyway; it's just a time sink for fuckwits and serial masturbators before the epiphany. Crap jobs really bring out the best in some people; I consider this to be a very significant motivator for me. Being paid to sit on your arse for 12 hours a day does have advantages though. It was there I discovered philosophy, classic literature and how to look like your actually working. This led me onto natural sciences, an appreciation of logic, although I frequently fail to apply it, and engineering. The later being my current endeavour.

Overall, Im a very funny guy. When you get to know me, you will discover a lot of depth. Also, I am very creative. I also like to dress well, and dont like being scruffy/untidy. My interests are very wide ranging interests from music, sports, photography, movies travellingetc.

I love to listen to music. Although I am a metal head, I love almost everything from Classical to Heavy Metal. I love to share music, it's something I am very passionate about. I cycled the Great Glen for charity (Kingswell & Westhill First responders). Started at Fort William and headed to Inverness. Never do this. It's very hard. No seriously, the locals will tell you its flat. Liars!
